The Practitioner Lab™ – Adaptive PBS Practice

A 6 week ‘Study Hall’ for Behaviour Support professionals committed to clinical excellence and contemporary practice leadership.

From Framework to Practice

Build the clinical confidence required for complex, real-world behaviour support

You’ve completed your training and you understand PBS as a practice and the associated frameworks.

You can develop plans that meet regulatory requirements, yet professional competence and professional confidence are not the same thing. There comes a point in practice where frameworks alone are no longer enough.

Families question your recommendations, and you wonder whether you’ve adequately translated theory into something that fits their lived reality.

Teams interpret your guidance differently than intended.

Situations escalate, and you’re required to rely on clinical judgment that formal training only partially prepared you for. This is not a failure. It’s the natural gap between procedural knowledge and reflective practice; between knowing what to do and feeling confident in how and why you do it in unpredictable human contexts.

Many Behaviour Support Practitioners remain working in this gap indefinitely.

Plans are compliant, but families feel uncertain, and IP Teams implement inconsistently.

Practitioners carry the weight of responsibility without adequate space to think, reflect, and strengthen their clinical reasoning.™

The Practitioner Lab™ – Adaptive PBS Practice exists to close that gap.

What This Program Is – And What It Is Not

This is not another qualification; It is not compliance training nor is it theoretical padding.

The Practitioner Lab™ – Adaptive PBS Practice is a structured, practitioner-led Study Hall designed to develop:

    • Reflective clinical judgment;
    • Ethical decision-making in complex cases;
    • Confidence in applied practice;
    • Leadership capacity within multidisciplinary systems;

This program supports practitioners to move from competent execution to confident, contextually responsive practice leadership.

Over 6 weeks with 6 live sessions.
A deliberate shift in how you practise.

    Hey there,

    I’m Dr Fiona J Davis and I support BSP’s to move beyond compliance and into confident, ethical, real-world practice.

    When I started out, I was well-trained, deeply committed, and doing my absolute best -yet I still found myself second-guessing decisions, navigating complex family dynamics, and feeling the weight of responsibility that formal training didn’t fully prepare me for.

    The frameworks were sound. The reality was messier.

    Through years of working across complex presentations, trauma histories, mental health considerations, and stretched systems, I realised something critical:

    Clinical competence and clinical confidence are not the same thing.

    What bridges that gap isn’t another credential – it’s reflective judgment, ethical reasoning, and the ability to adapt practice thoughtfully in real-world complexity.

    Now, I work alongside practitioners who care deeply about doing good work – practitioners who are tired of checkbox practice and want to lead with clarity, integrity, and confidence. My approach is grounded, reflective, and honest. No performative compliance. No one-size-fits-all answers.

    Just thoughtful, ethically sound practice that holds families, teams, and practitioners with equal respect.

    The Practitioner Lab™  – Adaptive PBS Practice is the program I wish had existed earlier in my own career, and one I now offer to practitioners ready to strengthen how they think, decide, and lead in practice.

    Z

    Clinical reasoning that integrates trauma informed, mental health and other neurodegenerative conditions considerations as a central component of PBS practice, while maintaining professional boundaries

    Z

    The ability to distinguish between active resistance and systemic fatigue in families, and respond without coercion or tokenistic engagement

    Z

    Insight into five common practice errors that persist even among experienced practitioners, and reflective strategies to identify them early

    Z

    Approaches to professional sustainability grounded in ethical clarity rather than emotional detachment or lowered standards

    Z

    Leadership presence that establishes trust with families, credibility with interdisciplinary teams, and confidence in your clinical judgment

    What Practitioners Are Saying

    This was the first program that addressed what I actually face in practice, not just what looks good on paper. Fiona creates a space where you can unpack real complexity without feeling exposed. One session genuinely changed how I work with families.

    Senior PBS Practitioner, QLD

    Before this program, I was operating in compliance mode. Now I lead planning meetings with purpose and families actually feel heard and supported.

    PBS Clinician, Regional NSW

    Every workshop delivered something I used that same week. Fiona has a way of cutting through noise and helping you see what actually matters clinically. This is the knowledge I wish I’d had five years ago.
